Special Report: With two critical minerals scoping studies due this quarter, Critica is beefing up its project-development team with veteran minerals engineer Mike Kevan joining as interim study manager.
Critica (ASX:CRI) has appointed Kevan to work with its technical team and external consultants, providing additional project development support as the Company advances its critical minerals portfolio.
His appointment is an interim engagement while the company recruits a permanent full-time general manager projects to provide longer-term leadership.
Kevan brings more than 25 years of experience in mineral processing, engineering leadership and project development across critical minerals, industrial minerals, iron ore and base metals.
His background spans early-stage studies and metallurgical testwork through to engineering, construction support and commissioning.
Two projects, one study push
Mt Lindsay, in a topflight tin-tungsten province of northwestern Tasmania, is being assessed around a modern underground development concept.
DRA Global is assessing how mine design, processing, infrastructure, materials handling and tailings could work as one system across the main and No. 2 skarn mineralised systems.
The company is also evaluating underground backfill, electrified materials handling and the use of existing hydroelectric power and disturbed areas to reduce the proposed surface footprint.
Critica recently outlined the underground concept, including a potential portal in a historical quarry about 600m from a possible plant area.
At Jupiter, meanwhile, the company is feeding an updated resource model and continued processing optimisation into a separate scoping study.
The WA project hosts an inferred mineral resource of about 1.8Bt at around 1700ppm total rare earth oxides at a 1000ppm cut-off, with drill results continuing to firm a regional growth case with broad, shallow and high-grade mineralisation.
Building the project bench
CEO Jacob Deysel said Critica was building its project-development capability as the two studies advanced.
“We are advancing two significant scoping studies in parallel across Mt Lindsay and Jupiter as we continue to build Critica into a leading Australian critical minerals developer,” he said.
“Mike’s appointment adds valuable project development experience to the team during this important period, while we undertake a formal recruitment process for a permanent full-time general manager projects to provide long-term leadership as our projects continue to advance.”
