  • Drilling targeting depth and strike extensions planned

Special Report: Xpedra Resources has confirmed depth extensions to its Springfield gold deposit in NSW with deep drilling returning some of the project’s best intercepts.

The latest results cover the deepest four holes drilled by Xpedra Resources (ASX:XPD) at Springfield to date.

All four step-out holes delivered gold mineralisation containing higher-grade intervals, with three intersecting zones grading more than 5g/t Au.

One hole returned 5m at 6.58g/t Au from 108m and 64m at 1.34g/t Au from 140m.

It also contained a 21m interval grading 2.41g/t Au from 167m, with an even richer section of 10m at 3.68g/t Au from 176m.

Another hole pierced 27m at 1.50g/t Au from 140m, including 6m at 3.68 g/t Au from 142m, while a third hole served up 16m at 1.24g/t Au from 197m.

These results build on a series of significant gold strikes from 31 holes drilled by the company during its first and second phase drill programs at Springfield.

Previously reported intercepts included 94m at 2.00g/t Au from 80m, 44m at 2.03g/t from 1m, 55m at 1.32g/t Au from surface, and 24m at 2.97g/t Au from surface.

The two campaigns delineated a broad, shallow gold system that extends for more than 400m of strike, with multiple high-grade zones.

The results have also demonstrated continuity of mineralisation from surface to at least 150m down-dip, with the system remaining open at depth and along strike.

“These latest results significantly increase the known depth extent of the Springfield gold deposit and demonstrate excellent down-dip continuity of mineralisation, adding further evidence of the deposit’s scale potential,” noted Xpedra Resources managing director Scott Funston.

“These results are highly complementary to those returned from one of our previously deepest holes, SFRC025, which intersected 94m at 2.0g/t Au from 80m, including 13m at 10.2g/t Au from 81m.”

Follow-up drilling on the horizon

Xpedra is now finalising plans for a third-phase drill program at Springfield, with the campaign set to begin once the required permits are received.

The drilling will test a 1.1km northern continuation of the mineralised monzodiorite intrusion beyond the northern-most hole, which returned 11m at 2.03g/t Au from 52m and 5m at 3.30g/t Au from 85m.

This prospective corridor hosts extensive gold and arsenic anomalism defined through shallow AC drilling but is yet to be followed up.

The program will also test for down-dip extensions of mineralisation within the 400m strike drilled so far, as well as strike and depth extensions around higher-grade intersections from previous drilling.

Xpedra remains well funded for its exploration push, with $3.1 million in cash at the end of June.
